Les Rossignols

 

Les Rossignols ( The Nightingales—so-called because of the families of nightingales who sing night and day in the woods surrounding the property in late spring) is situated in the centre of Troche (a small commune of just over 200 properties) on the D7 between Pompadour and Vigeois. Our property is set in a large park and offers all conveniences including an above-ground swimming pool. The house is built of pale stone on three levels. We live on the ground floor so guests have the exclusive use of the top two floors. It is light and airy and for winter periods is fully centrally heated, augmented by a large wood burning open fire in the lounge. Residents have full use of the first floor lounge/dining room which has a magnificent open stone fireplace and French doors opening onto a balcony with breathtaking views.

 

English satellite television and a wide range of videos and DVDs are available. Breakfast is taken either in the dining room or on the front balcony (weather permitting). Our home is beautifully decorated and furnished and we aim to make your stay very comfortable. You are welcome to use the kitchen to make tea, coffee and cold drinks whenever you like and for a small extra cost, you may use the washing machine. A baby’s cot and high chair are available.

 

There are two double bedrooms on the first floor with built-in wardrobes and pretty furniture.

One overlooks beautiful countryside and  the other overlooks the village. These two rooms

share a bathroom and separate toilet.

On the second floor is a suite of two double bedrooms and a bathroom and toilet.

Evening meals are taken with us and provide the perfect ending to your day. We grow most of our vegetables and soft fruits organically and use these whenever possible. Special diets are catered for with prior notice.

 

The garden is well-equipped with furniture and some shady areas. There is ample space for children to play ball games.

 

The property has been fully inspected and approved by the local Tourist Board and Clevacances. Inspections are carried out at regular intervals to ensure that high standards are maintained.

 

The area

 

Troche is only 6km from Pompadour which is a stunning small town with a large walled

chateau and race course - it is one of the few Harras (horse breeding  centers) in France

and  race meetings and other events including dressage take place frequently throughout

the summer.

Horse riding is available nearby, as is canoeing and white water rafting. The area is full of beautiful walks, there is a lake of  7 hectares with walks around it.  Additionally, there is an excellent floodlight football field , tennis court, basketball court and boules pitch.

Vigeois (8kms) dates from roman times and has a wonderful swimming and fishing lake

ideal for whiling away lazy summer days - also the Vezere river runs through it and daily
